Künker sale 335, lot 3810

This specimen was lot 3810 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €300 (about US$393 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, Christian, Bischof von Minden, 1611-1633. 1/4 Reichstaler 1619, Clausthal. Zwitterprägung mit Münzzeichen abnehmender Mond auf der Vorderseite und Münzzeichen zunehmender Mond auf der Rückseite. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung AU 53. R Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, bishopric of Minden, Christian, 1611-33, quarter thaler of 1619, Clausthal mint. Mule with a crescent moon on the obverse and on the reverse. NGC AU-53. Scarce, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This one year type accompanied a thaler (Dav-6435). It is not priced in the SCWC. The duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle lapsed in 1705 and passed to Hannover.
