Künker sale 263, lot 791

This specimen was lot 791 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €750 (about US$969 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, Georg, 1636-1641. Reichstaler 1641, Zellerfeld, auf seinen Tod. RR Kl. Henkelspur, sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Calenberg-Hannover, George I, 1636-41, thaler of 1641, Zellerfeld mint, on his death. Rare, small mount mark, very fine.)"

This "death" thaler is substantially rarer than the regular issue such as Dav-6508.
