This specimen was lot 12027 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $2,300. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 6,400 Reis, 1808/7-R. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Ex: Huntington Collection." The type was struck 1805-17 with the portrait of João as Prince Regent (he later became king João VI).

Recorded mintage: 133,000.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
