This specimen was lot 1228 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $977.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "1795 6,400 reis. Rio mint. MS-62 (NGC). Types as above. Warm yellow gold surfaces with strong lustre and excellent aesthetic appeal. Slightly imperfect centering, with broad dentilation around the upper periphery, thinner toward the bottom. A lovely coin. From the John H. Clapp Collection; Clapp estate to Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., 1942." The type was struck in Brazil 1789-1805.
