This specimen was lot 20149 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $2,232.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Maria I gold 6400 Reis 1790-R, MS63 NGC, a very nice example with golden mint brilliance, scarce in this designation." This type was struck 1789-1805 and is among the most common colonial gold coins of Brazil.

Recorded mintage: 211,000.
