This specimen was part of lot 24063 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), which sold for $705. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brazil Silver Collection, nine 640 Reis dating from 1698-1825 plus a 2000 Reis 1868, grades range from Fine to XF. A nice group which should be carefully viewed." This type was minted at Lisbon 1768 and 1771, high and low crown varieties exist.
Recorded mintage: 110,000.
