This specimen was lot 23210 in Heritage sale 3012 (New York, January 2011), where it sold for $8,050. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1758B, MS66 NGC, a stunningly gorgeous coin with deeply lustrous surfaces and razor sharp details. Very rare in this superior quality." The type was struck 1751-77 in Brazil and Portugal. The Bahia mint issues are generally scarcer than the Rio issues.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
