This specimen was lot 23205 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1761B, AU53 NGC, lightly toned with well-struck features, a handsome example from the Bahia Mint." The type was struck in Bahia 1751-77. The Bahia mint issues are generally scarcer than the Rio issues.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, .423 troy oz AGW.
