This specimen was lot 40022 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $3,819. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 6,400 Reis (Peca), 1756-B. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Jose I (1750-77). Nice strike and very attractive." The type was struck 1751-77 in Brazil and Portugal. The Bahia mint issue (shown here) is generally scarcer than the Rio mint issue.
