This specimen was lot 23759 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 2000 Reis 1754, AU Details - Mount Removed NGC. 'Iosephus Dominus' type. The mount removal is apparent with numerous pinscratches in the fields. From The RLM Collection, Part II." This type is listed for 1752, 1754 and 1771 and is much scarcer than the larger moidore or 4000 réis (KM 171.1).
