This specimen was lot 30503 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $1,440. The catalog description[1] noted, "Jose I gold 6400 Reis 1751-B UNC Details (Cleaned) NGC, Bahia mint. Struck with remnants of the obverse legends visible on the reverse. Sharply detailed and attractive despite the presence of light unidirectional hairlines from the noted cleaning." This type was struck 1751-77 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil. This date obtains a substantial premium in the SCWC but such was not realized in the auction.
