This specimen was lot 75206 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $2,196. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRAZIL. 6400 Reis, 1740-R. Rio de Janeiro Mint. Joao V. NGC Unc Details--Excessive Surface Hairlines. A gorgeous example of the type that presents a bold strike and sharp devices. The surfaces offer a lovely, fresh gold patina, and silky original luster gleams across the reverse." This type was struck 1731-50 and is among the more available colonial gold coins of Brazil tho the early dates are rare.

Specification: 14.34 g, 0.917 fine gold, 30 mm diameter, 0.4229 oz AGW.
