This specimen was lot 23200 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V gold 1000 Reis 1726-R, AU50 NGC. Rarely seen issue. Catalogs often fail to list the scarcity of this type properly. Only two years were struck 1708 and 1726. From The RLM Collection." This type was struck at the Minas Gerais mint 1724-27 and at Bahia (KM 104) and at Rio 1708 and 1726.

Specification: 2.68 g, 0.917 fine gold, .079 oz AGW.
