Brandenburg-Franconia 1518 goldgulden Fr-307
This specimen was lot 1806 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,600 (about US$2,227 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN, Kasimir und Georg, 1515-1527. Goldgulden 1518, Schwabach. GOLD. Sehr seltener Jahrgang. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, margraviate of Brandenburg-Franconia, Casimir and George, 1515-27, goldgulden of 1518, Schwabach mint. Very rare date, about extremely fine.)"
This is the only gold coin of these co-rulers. Brandenburg-Franconia was permanently divided into Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg-Bayreuth on the death of Georg Friedrich in 1603.
