Steve Album sale 51, lot 2910

This specimen was lot 2910 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $96. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRANDENBURG-BAYREUTH: Friedrich, 1735-1763, BI kreuzer, Bayreuth, 1750, initials CL-R, lustrous, PCGS graded MS63." The line lapsed in 1791 and the provinces fell to Prussia, who in turn yielded them to Bavaria in 1806 as part of Napoleon's mediatization. This type was struck 1745-53. One convention thaler was 120 kreuzer. The reverse features an interminable Latin abbreviation, "M·C·I·B·S·P·C·W·M·S·C·B·N·P·R·H· (Magdeburgi, Cliviae, Juliaci, Bergae, Silesiae, Pomeraniae, Cassubiorum, Wittgensteinensis, Montium Stetini, Crossenensis, Burggravius Norimbergensis, Princeps Halberstadensis)."

Recorded mintage: unknown but not expensive.

Specification: 0.50 g, silver, 14 mm diameter, engraved by Christof Lorenz Ruckdeschel.
