This specimen was lot 4082 in Goldberg sale 67 (Los Angeles, January 2012), where it sold for $1,063.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States - Brandenburg-Ansbach. Taler, 1777-G. Alexander, 1757-1791. Bust right. Reverse: Many helmets over divided shield in Order chain. Light gray toning with original mint luster. NGC graded MS-62." This type was issued 1777 only and is listed as rather scarce. It comes not from the Electorate of Brandenburg (later the Kingdom of Prussia) but from Brandenburg-Ansbach, a Hohenzollern enclave west of Bavaria and neighboring Nuremburg.
