Brandenburg-Ansbach 1752-ISG thaler Dav-1984
This specimen was lot 265 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €380 (about US$512 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich, 1729-1757. Reichstaler (90 Kreuzer) 1752, Schwabach. Mit Stempelschneidersignatur ISG · (Johann Samuel Götzinger) am Armabschnitt. Slg. Grüber (Auktion Künker 267) 4450. RR Feine Tönung, etwas justiert, sehr schön. (margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, Charles William Frederick, 1729-57, thaler of 1752, Schwabach mint, with engraver's initials below bust. Rare, fine toning, slightly adjusted, very fine.)"
The margrave sold his realm to Prussia in 1791, who in turn yielded them to Bavaria in 1806 as part of Napoleon's mediatization. This one year type come with engraver's initial as "ISG" or just "G".
