Brabant 1650(h) 3 ducaton Dav-4452
This specimen was lot 46 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIEN Brabant, Herzogtum, Philipp IV. von Spanien, 1621-1665. Dreifacher Dukaton 1650, Antwerpen. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Kleine Kratzer und Schrötlingsfehler. (duchy of Brabant, Philip IV of Spain, 1621-65, triple ducaton of 1650, Antwerp mint. Very rare, Very Fine, Small scratches and flan flaws.)"
The regular type, issued 1636-65 from Antwerp (with hand mintmark) and Brussels, is scarce but not rare. The multiple ducatons, which include double and quadruple issues, are all rare. Triple ducatons of this portrait were struck intermittently 1637-57. The other provinces issued this type, including Artois, Flanders, Tournai and Luxembourg.
