Jean Elsen sale 146, lot 1096

This specimen was lot 1096 in Jean Elsen sale 146 (Brussels, November 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), Cu liard, 1626, Anvers. Frappé pour la ville de Breda. D/ Briquet entouré d'une couronne et des écus de Bourgogne, Brabant et Breda. R/ Ecu couronné, accosté de la date. Rare. Beau à Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Philip IV, 1621-65, copper liard of 1626, Antwerp mint, struck for the town of Breda. Obverse: briquet surrounded by a crown and the shields of Burgundy, Brabant and Breda; reverse: crowned arms divide the date. Rare, Fine - Very Fine.)"

This type was struck for Breda in 1626 only. Other liards struck at the time, such as KM 62.1, KM 62.2 and KM 62.3, lacked the arms of the town.
