Jean Elsen sale 141, lot 635

This specimen was lot 635 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"ARTOIS, Comté, Philippe IV (1621-1640), AR patagon, 1627, Arras. D/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. R/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Petites craquelures du flan. Le différent peu visible. Très Beau. (county of Artois, Philip IV, 1621-40, silver patagon of 1627, Arras mint. Obverse: Burgundian cross below a crown with the jewels of the Golden Fleece; reverse: crowned arms, Order of the Golden Fleece around. Small planchet cracks, Very fine.)"

Altho this is the most common date of a type issued 1623-29 and 1634-35, it is still scarcer than patagons from Brabant or Flanders.
