Stack's Bowers February 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 73751

This specimen was lot 73751 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Bombay Presidency. Pice, 1791. PCGS PROOF-63 Brown. Minted in England, this Proof issue is rather stunning with chocolate surfaces and simple but sharp details." This type was also issued in 1794 along with half, and two pice. Gilt proofs (KM 193a) exist.
