Bolivia 1952 35 gramos
This specimen was lot 30139 in Heritage auction 3096 (Dallas, TX, March 2021), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bolivia. Republic gold "Revolution" 35 Gramos (50 Bolivianos) 1952-(a) MS63 NGC, Paris mint, Struck in a mintage of only 2,857 in commemoration of the 1952 Revolution, and thus the lowest mintage issue in the commemorative series, with other type mintages ranging from 7,142 to 79,000. Lustrous and choice, only a minute scratch crossing from the left obverse field into Villarroel's bust noted for accuracy. From the Paramount Collection." In 1952, a newly installed regime issued a series of four tokens in gold (3.5 g, 7 g, 14 g and 35 g gold) of which this is the largest. It was theoretically equal to fifty bolivianos.
