CNG Lissner sale, lot 1257

This specimen was lot 1257 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $217.90. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Republic. 1825-present. CU-NI 10 Centavos. Dated 1899. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 65. Type without privy marks. Gem fully prooflike BU. Just a few toning spots on the obverse and reverse. Purchased from A. H. Baldwin & Sons, August 1970." This type is listed for 1893 and 1899 with similar types noted for 1895 and 1897. After 1900, the silver five and ten centavos were discontinued in favor of base metal issues.

Recorded mintage: 3,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: copper nickel, 25.5 mm diameter, this specimen Ø24 mm, 5.02 g, 6h axis.
