Bolivia 1892-PTS CB 20 centavos
This specimen was lot 71399 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 20 Centavos, 1892-PTS CB. Potosi Mint. PCGS MS-63. The obverse is immersed in a coat of dominant, rich magenta color that is accented by pleasant shades of scarlet and subtle azure at certain light angles. The reverse shows some similar patches but is mainly olive-gray and amber. Plenty of soft luster is evident underlying the toning on this attractive, original representative." This type was struck 1884-1900 as part of Bolivia's second decimal coinage. This issue is common. An 1892/82 overdate is reported.
