This silver twenty centavos was struck in Potosi in 1879 to honor president Hilarion Daza (1840-94). It interrupted the normal issue of twenty centavos struck 1872-85 (KM 159.1). Assayer FE is recorded for 1872-90 but his initials do not appear on this coin. This may have been just as well, as Daza was blamed for the loss of Bolivia's coastline in the War of the Pacific (1879-83).
Recorded mintage: unknown; rather scarce.
Specification: 4.6 g, 0.900 fine silver, .133 troy oz ASW.
