Bolivia 1621-P T 4 reales
This specimen was lot 164 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 26 (Winter Park, FL, November 2019), where it sold for $1,547. The catalog description[1] noted, "Potosí, Bolivia, cob 4 reales, 1621T, quadrants of cross transposed, Grade 1. Bold P+T to left of full shield, the cross also full but off-center and lightly corroded, clear 21 of date. Pedigreed to the Classics collection, with Fisher tag and photo-certificate #96A-20589. Recovered from Atocha, sunk in 1622 west of Key West, Florida." This type was struck 1605-21, throughout the reign of Philip III. Dates were added in 1617; even so, many are so crudely made that the dates are not legible.
