Bohemia 1592 thaler Dav-8079
This specimen was lot 1866 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,133 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Rudolf II., 1576-1612. Reichstaler 1592, Kuttenberg. Münzmeister Jirí Satný von Olivet. Feine Patina, gutes Portrait, sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, thaler of 1592, Kuttenberg mint. Fine patina, good portrait, very fine.)"
This particular type is a product of the Kuttenberg mint for 1578-1602; the issues of 1601-02 are catalogued as Dav-3023. The Kuttenberg or Kutná Hora mint in Bohemia was an important producer of coin until it was wrecked during the Thirty Years War. See also KM MB300/Dav-3075 from Prague.
