Bohemia (15)81 thaler Dav-8080
This specimen was lot 3051 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €725 (about US$1,027 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Rudolf II., 1576-1612. Reichstaler 1581, Budweis. Münzmeister Christoph Schönfeld. R Hitzespur im Feld der Vorderseite, fast sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, thaler of 1581, Budweis mint. Rare, corrosion spot on obverse, about very fine.)"
Budweis, a rather obscure mint in Moravia, produced this type 1579-1603. Undated specimens exist.
