This specimen was issued by Bhutan in 1979 as part of a series of circulating coinage ranging up to 3 ngultrums. All subsequent coinage has been NCLT's. At present, the ngultrum (divided into 100 chhertum), is pegged at par with the Indian rupee (US$1 = 68.5 rupees as of April 2019). The current coinage was introduced in 1974.

Recorded mintage: unknown plus proofs.

Specification: 6.9 g, copper nickel, 25.85 mm diameter.
