This specimen was lot 898 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "BHARATPUR: Jaswant Singh, 1853-1893, AR rupee, Braj Indrapur, 1858//VS1910, portrait of Queen Victoria, EF." Bharatpur was formed by several local Hindu chiefs in the mid 1700's and conceded British paramountcy in 1805. The rajah sided with the British during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 and received enhanced recognition. The state joined India in 1947 and is now part of Rajasthan. The rajah issued several silver rupees (KM 176, KM 156 (with star)) around the same time as this issue, all with the head of queen Victoria.
