Bharatpur (1760)/1 rupee
This specimen was lot 2637 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "BHARATPUR: AR rupee 11.26 g, Mahe Indrapur, year one (ahad), in the name of Shah Jahan III, one reverse testmark, beautiful iridescent toning, XF-AU, ex David Fore Collection, ex SARC Auction 19, Lot 1251." Bharatpur was formed by several local Hindu chiefs in the mid 1700's and conceded British paramountcy in 1805. The rajah sided with the British during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 and received enhanced recognition. The state joined India in 1947 and is now part of Rajasthan. This rupee was struck AH 1173-1174 altho this example doesn't seem to have an AH date.
