Bharatpur AH 1187/15 rupee KM-26
This specimen was lot 714 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "BHARATPUR: AR rupee, Braj Indrapur, AH1187 year 15, in the name of Shah Alam II, attractive light luster, NGC graded MS64." The Bharatpur state, associated with the Marathas, was large enough to control several mints, including Akbarabad, Bray Indrapur (shown here), Kumber and Mahe Indrapur. The rajas fended off British control until 1826, when a succession dispute allowed the British to come in and banish all the contenders except for a seven year old boy. The rajah sided with the British during the Indian Mutiny of 1857 and received enhanced recognition. This type was struck intermittently AH 1186-1214.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 11.0-11.1 g, silver.
Catalog reference: KM-26 (unlisted date).
