Bern (1710)-DB 7 ducats Fr-150
This specimen was lot 4112 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 40,000 CHF (about US$58,020 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, 7 Dukaten o. J. (um 1710), Bern. Gekröntes Berner Wappen zwischen einem Löwen und einem Bären. Unter dem Wappen die Stempelschneiderinnitialen D B für De Beyer. Rv. Mann und Frau neben Altar. Oben Lorbeerkranz unter strahlender Sonne. Glatter Rand. Sehr selten. Fast FDC. Kleine flaue Stelle auf der Vorderseite. (Switzerland, city and canton of Bern, undated seven ducats, circa 1710, Bern mint. Obverse: crowned city arms supported by a lion and a bear, initials "DB" below; reverse: A man and a woman hold hands over an altar within a laurel wreath, a shining sun above; plain edge. Very rare, About Mint State, Minor weakly struck area on the obverse.)"
The same dies were used for a four ducats (Fr-153), a five ducats (Fr-152), a six ducats (Fr-151), this seven ducats, an eight ducats (Fr-149) and a ten ducats (Fr-147).
