This specimen was lot 935 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €300 (about US$404 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"JÜLICH-KLEVE-BERG, BERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 GROSSHERZOGTUM, Maximilian Joseph von Bayern, 1799-1806. Taler 1805. Landmünze.. Sehr schön +. (grand duchy of Berg, Maximilian Joseph of Bavaria, 1799-1806, thaler of 1805. Very fine or better.)"
The Duchy of Berg was a part of the Palatinate, given to the king of Bavaria 1799-1806 and annexed outright to France in 1808. After Waterloo, the province fell to Prussia.
