This specimen was lot 4420 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $47. The catalog description[1] noted, "India-Bengal Presidency. ¼ Rupee, AH1204/45. 'Shah Alam II Badshad'. Toned. NGC graded AU-58." These were struck by the British East India Company at the Bengal Presidency (Calcutta) in the name of the Mughal emperor. This type was struck with a frozen date until the 1830's and is common.
