Bengal in 1942, from Hammond's atlas

This specimen was lot 38744 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Bengal Presidency. Pice, "Year 37" (ca. 1796-1809). Calcutta Mint. In the name of Shah Alam II. NGC MS-62 Brown." This type was struck with a frozen date. Recorded mintage: unknown.

Catalog reference: KM-53; Prid-204.
