This specimen was lot 1332 in Jean Elsen sale 144 (Brussels, March 2020), where it sold for €700 (about US$922 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Albert II (1993-2013), AV 100 euro, 2002. Fondateurs de l'Europe. 1000 p. frappées. Rare. Flan poli. (kingdom of Belgium, Albert II, 1993-2013, gold hundred euro of 2002, Founders of Europe, 1,000 pieces struck. Rare, Proof.)"
Konrad Adenauer (German, 1876-1967), Robert Schuman (French, 1886-1963) and Paul-Henri Spaak (Belgian, 1899-1972), were the authors of the original treaties which established NATO in 1949 and the European Coal and Steel Community in 1952.
