This coin, one of a type struck 1894-98 and 1901 during the reign of Leopold III of Belgium (1865-1909), was struck with Walloons (dialect of French) and Flemish (dialect of Dutch) legends. The Flemish legend type is shown here; it is not rare, tho there is a scarce 1895/4 overdate. The French legend type is rare.

Recorded mintage: 3,529,000.

Specification: 4.5 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter.
