Belgium 1887 2 frank
The first specimen was lot 860 in Jean Elsen sale 124 (Brussels, March 2015), where it sold for €650 (about US$811 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold II (1865-1909), AR 2 frank, 1887 NL, Rare. Superbe. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold II (1865-1909), silver two francs of 1887, Dutch legends, rare, extremely fine.)
The second specimen was lot 1323 in Jean Elsen sale 147 (Brussels, June 2021), where it sold for €260 (about US$380 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold II (1865-1909), AR 2 frank, 1887NL. Rare. Très Beau. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold II, 1865-1909, silver two frank of 1887, Dutch legends. Rare, Very Fine.)"
This type was struck in 1887 at the Brussels mint. This one year type seems to been struck in Dutch legends only and is rare. The original issue (KM 30.1) was minted 1866-68.
