Belgium 1859 centime
This specimen was lot 1413 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €80 (about US$111 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 1 centime, 1859 (9 sur 1). Sans trait sous CENT. Non repertorié. Brisure du coin au droit. Superbe. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper one centime of 1859, 1859/1 overdate, without a dash under CENT, an unreported variety. Die break on the obverse, Extremely Fine.)"
The SCWC lists one centimes with (KM 1.2) and without dash (KM 1.3) and prices the latter as cheaper. The type was struck 1835-38, 1841, 1844-50, 1855-63 in considerable numbers but many dates are scarce, as is this one. The SCWC does not mention this overdate.
