Belgium 1842 5 centimes
This specimen was lot 1977 in Jean Elsen sale 145 (Brussels, September 2020), where it sold for €170 (about US$242 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 5 centimes, 1842. BRAEMT F. avec point. Fine brisure du coin au droit. Petites taches. Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper five centimes of 1842, signature with dot. Minor die clash on the obverse, a few spots, Uncirculated.)"
This type was struck 1833-38, 1841-42, 1847-61. In 1861, the type was replaced with a copper-nickel five centimes of smaller diameter.
Reported Mintage: 5,336,000, a common date.
