Belgium 1790 lion d'argent Dav-1285

This type was struck in 1790 during a brief insurrection against Austrian rule. The insurrection was crushed and a few years later, Belgium was occupied and annexed by revolutionary France. Belgium would not obtain its independence until 1830. This coin traded for three florins. This crown, the first coin of Belgium (as distinct from the Austrian Netherlands), is expensive tho it appears fairly frequently in auctions.
