Sincona sale 33, lot 2655

This specimen was lot 2655 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$297 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Navarra, Königreich. Jeanne d'Albret, 1562-1572 Teston 1566. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. Kl. Schrötlingsriss am Rand. (kingdom of Navarre, Joan of Albret, 1562-72, teston of 1566. Very fine-good very fine, Minor edge fault.)"

Jeanne d'Albret was the mother of the future Henry IV of France. In the sixteenth century, Navarre was still autonomous and struck its own coinage. Most of the region ended up part of Spain.
