Sincona sale 18, lot 1252

This specimen was lot 1252 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 220 (about US$290 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Konventionstaler 1836. München Ottokapelle zu Kiefersfelden. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (kingdom of Bavaria, convention thaler of 1836, Munich mint, Otto chapel, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type honored the construction of a new church at Kiefersfelden. It is among the last thalers struck to the old convention standard (28.06 g).

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, .751 troy oz ASW, lettered edge, this specimen 27.89 g.
