This specimen was lot 6434 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bavaria. 3 Kreuzer, 1829. NGC MS-64. Well preserved with Light toning." Along with the well known thalers, double thalers and ducats, the king of Bavaria also issued a variety of smaller denominations for use by his humbler subjects. The three kreuzer or groschen was issued in billon until 1868. The closest post unification denomination was the silver twenty pfennig. This particular type is listed for 1827-30 and is not rare.
