Sincona sale 51, lot 3143

This specimen was lot 3143 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Karl Theodor, 1777-1799. 1/2 Taler 1793, Amberg. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Gutes vorzüglich. Feine Patina. Minimal justiert. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Charles Theodore, 1777-99, half thaler of 1793, Amberg mint. Rare in this condition, Good extremely fine, Nice toning, Minor adjustment marks.)"

This rare one year type was minted at Amberg in 1793 along with KM 624.2. It accompanied a thaler (KM 625/Dav-1962) and twenty kreuzer (KM 618). Bavarian half thalers were minted pretty steadily after 1753 but are scarcer than the thalers.
