This specimen was lot 32574 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "Germany. Bavaria. Maximilian III Joseph Taler 1755 MS65 PCGS, Munich mint. An exceptional offering of this "Madonna" type, fielding satiny obverse luster that traverses the fields by a sweeping cartwheel effect, contrasting with a reverse that positively gleams with brilliant radiance. Highly collectible so fine, and the only selection seen by the grading services at this esteemed gem level." This type was struck 1754-59 simultaneously with a shield reverse thaler (Dav-1948). Both are common.
