Bavaria 1704 gold gulden Fr-219
This specimen was lot 3571 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €380 (about US$491 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, Maximilian II. Emanuel, 1679-1726. Goldgulden 1704, München. GOLD. Feine Goldpatina, min. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön. (Germany, Electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian II Emanuel, 1679-1726, gold gulden of 1704, Munich mint. Nice gold color, a few planchet flaws, very fine.)"
This type of 1698-1704 and 1715 is scarce. It is listed in Friedberg as a max d'or, a term used in the SCWC for a coin weighing 6.65 g, 0.900 fine gold and issued after 1715. There was also the carolin d'or (Fr-229), issued after 1726, which weighed 9.7 g, .770 fine gold. None of these coins were for the peasants.
