Aureo y Calicó sale 422, lot 2695

This specimen was lot 2695 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 30 € (about US$39 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "1708. Carlos III, Pretendiente. Barcelona. 1 diner. MBC+ [choice very fine]." This type was issued in Barcelona 1708-11 on behalf of the Austrian archduke Charles, who as Charles III contended unsuccessfully with Philip V for the throne of Spain. It is fairly common in circulated condition.
