This specimen was lot 21583 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN. Catalonia. Trentin, ND (1598-1621). Barcelona Mint. Philip III. NGC AU-50. Imitating a 2 Excelentes of Ferdinand and Isabella. Obverse: Crowned facing busts of the royal couple, with two stars between; Reverse: Crowned coat-of-arms. A great example of this hammered type, exhibiting yellow-gold surfaces and a solid strike. Only a hint of light handling prevents an even higher designation." Cayón also notes a variety where the mintmark "B" replaces one of the stars. Half and third trentins also exist.
